My weight became to light for comfort and I went back to a mixed food diet. Now I am convinced that a fruit diet, which is low in protein, can produce protein with the nitrogen we breath in air and fruit. I lift weights a least three times a week and I see the increase in resistance that I am able to handle. Thanks for your work. Tom

I was just checking out your website and I love it.. I really want to travel up the coast some time and visit the tropical fruit world you speak about in your section on Sapotes.. Where exactly is it?
After going there I'd love to visit you..
Have no idea when this will all happen.
Also saw your video on the Woodstock site.. It's great! I love all the colours in everything you do.. fills my need for beauty.
I want to get to know you more so will definitely get there some day.. Been having so much orange juice for breakfast every day and often think of you.. The oranges are navels and the best I've ever tasted anywhere and they come from my local valley about an hour and half away.
Right now though I'm on my forth day of a fast and I'm going to Alec Burton's clinic this afternoon to stay with him for the remainder of the fast.. will be doing at least 21 days then re-feeding there.. Already can't wait to get back on to my yummy fruit,
love

I have been simplifying my life, and even though I eat raw organic foods, I have been feeling very overwhelmed with all of the information out there with regard to superfoods, superherbs, supplements, which greens to eat for whatever nutrient. I thought yesterday, "If I could just eat one food for a while! That would clear my mind of all of this chatter about which food to eat!". So here you are. My body doesn't like a lot of foods. It prefers simplicity. So Thank you. I am going to begin a mono-fruit experience. Oranges sound and feel right for me. Warm wishes and thank you so much. Susie

Referred by: "myself"Comments: Hello Anne,
I had a long email going, and then something made it go away. In a nutshell, here is the summary of it.
I have been vegetarian since 1975, a vegan for 2 years, and eating only sweet fruit (my very favorite food) during the day lately,. At night I revert to grains, salt, and fat, and other bad foods. Is this a natural physical craving for something I am missing in my diet, since I have the best intentions and believe I miss nothing from my fruit? How do I deal with this? Also, what do you say about the social pressures I will face--especially from my beloved wife--if I am able to overcome my personal cravings and reach my goals about what I hope to eat? I don't even know how to picture a compromise, although she has been good enough to tolerate me as a vegan after she married me in 2000 as a vegetarian. (She is an omnivore, and most of our shared meals at home at night are vegan, sometimes with her adding sour cream or something to her plate. Food is a very socially significant thing to her.) I am now 60, and do not picture feeling mixed emotions the rest of my life.
Thank you for any sage advice you can give me.
Sincerely,
Brion Allen

Referred by:Comments: I wish I could live off of sweet fruit. I love almost all kinds of fruit - bananas, apples, pears, oranges, kiwi, cantaloupe, watermelon, honeydew, strawberries, blueberries, honeybelles, mangoes (which I've recently discovered, now I'm hooked on them), grapes (my favorite, especially the red grapes), peaches, plums. I've probably left out a few. However, I am not too fond of raw tomatoes or cucumbers, but strangely, I didn't mind zucchini when I ate it as part of a bag of frozen vegetables. Also, non-spicy peppers, I am on the fence with (depends on what mood I am in). I do like avocados though. Huh, maybe I did list a lot of fruit, so I guess it is possible I could live off sweet fruit if I tried hard enough. Still hard to find all of those organically here in the state of Illinois, Whiteside County, though, and, after hearing all the risks involved with such an extreme diet, I want to do it right if I want do commit to this, and getting it right means I eat organic, except when I am on the run, I could occasionally settle for conventionally grown produce. The main appeal to me about an all-fruit diet, besides the fact that they're the best tasting raw foods, is the ease of preparation, as opposed to, say, whole grains. You can't eat whole grains raw, and even if you cook them, you have to add flavor to them in order to make them eatable. I've looked at pasta recipes, for instance, and I keep asking myself, "Why do these have to have so many ingredients?," and as a result, I've never found it in me to cook my own grain recipes, other than simple oatmeal (which uses precooked oats anyway), with milk and cinnamon. I know, I'm not even a vegetarian, as I do have to settle for eating meat by default, since meat requires considerably less preparation, compared to grains, but I would be soooo happy if I could eat nothing but fresh organic fruit and live happily.

Thank you for your comment.
Personally, I have never had any yeast issues on the fruit diet.
A few months ago, I went for a Live and Dry Blood Analysis which showed that I had no issues with yeast.
My own personal view is that a fruit diet filled with organic, great quality whole fruits can only help the body to heal and re-balance.
But everyone has their own past life history and this, I feel, needs to be taken into account in how the fruit diet will work for the individual.
Some people may benefit from a transitional diet, or a water fast to prepare their bodies for a fruit diet.
Love and Peaches,

I love ripe fruit, but difficult to find

I tried to send you this message earlier by email, but it got sent back to me by Yahoo twice. So I am replying to you on my guestbook.
Thank you very much for your entry in my guest book.
I apologise for taking so long to get back to you.
Thank you also for buying my book — it is very much appreciated.
I am sorry I did not sign your book. I usually do not sign the books unless requested, so I do apologise for my omission.
I really appreciate your offer of visiting you if we should visit California.
I would also extend the offer to you, if you should ever come and visit the Sunshine Coast.
But I realise that travelling is not always easy when you care for feline friends. I hope all your kitties are well and happy. Our cat is very laid back at the moment due to all the heat and humidity.
Best Wishes with your new baby fruit trees.
Wishing you a Very Beautiful and Fruitful 2011.

I am very sorry that the postal charges had to go up today for book orders to the United States.
I just learned, from the lovely folk who look after my parcels at my local Post Office, that a surcharge of AU $9 will be required for each parcel going to the U.S. which weighs over 453gms/1lb.
My parcels weigh in at about 497gms!
So I am really sorry for the extra cost this involves.
If the weight surcharge had been metric (500gms or over) I would not have had to increase postage costs.
I am told the surcharge is for added security checks on parcels entering the United States.
Postage rates for other countries are unaffected.
Sorry again for any inconvenience.

It was great to meet you and Cappi again last Saturday. I appreciate your feedback.
I am very grateful for your book that you kindly donated as a lucky door prize. I couldn't resist and have gone through it yesterday and today. You and I share same opinions about this true gifts of nature that all varieties of fruits represent. What stood out for me in your book were truths that you shared: fruits and children relationships, breastfeeding babies until 3-4 years of age, your experience in Bali, love for Durian (love it too:o),sapote, growing own food, mono diets, avoiding addictions to cocoa beans. Congratulations Ann. Well done. What I miss in your book is the picture of the author. I believe that you need to put a picture of yourself there to reach out to more readers and to connect with them on emotional level. I like the illustrations inside the book and the cover by Alfons Mucha (from my home country).
Would you be open to presenting at one of our upcoming events in 2011? The dates are as follows: 15 Jan, 12 Feb, 12 Mar.

Referred by: FredComments: I heard of you, Anne through Fred but have been on a fruit based diet since a child. Through the years i have lived on a conventional diet and always found that i would have some sort of reaction and never felt as good or alive as i had whilst being on fruit. But in saying that i used to eat green leaf salads and fruit salads. In eating those salads my body did not know when to stop and when i was full it wasn't long after that i felt hungry again, obviously body does not recognise the combined fruits and is requiring something that it can recognise. I have been mono eating for about a year and get the full sensation and only eat when my body is scraming for food.I have always been an outdoors peson but since mono i have found myself craving the sunshine so much more. I am generally outdoors as i work on a farm but through a contract we have picked up i have been doing mainly shed work for the past 4 months and what would seem odd for everyone one a conventional diet, i have a desperation to be outside and let of the cage that it feels like i am in. Living in Victoria does not help the situation with it's cold winters and lack of appropriate weather to be wanting to be ventured out into on the weekend. I am so looking forward to moving back to Qld in Sept.(previously lived up there for 10 years)
I would like to thank you Anne for sharing your story so truthfully and for introducing me to the mono way of eating. You have definitely helped me in the understanding and the recognition of what my body craves and needs.
Each fruit i consume is luscious, my body knows when to stop and gives me the energy i need to work a labour intensive 12 hour day. My employer and the workers are amazed by the way i work and being able to do what i do and survive on just fruit. The strength i possess also gets everyone talking. I can quite easily pick up 40kg bags of fertiliser (personally weighing 45-47kg) and have picked up 50kg bags of spuds. I am toned and that is from no effort on my behalf, i do not exercise at all, I am only physical from when i am working.
I can not see myself ever eating a convential again. Have been completely raw for the past 3-4 years and do not care if I am a 'freak' in societies eyes. I am proud of who i am and thoroughly enjoy eating the luscious fruits that we have in abundance on our planet.
Thank you again Anne
Warmest Regards,
Karen

Thank you for your entry in my guest book.
I only eat unsalted Olives, when they are in season. They get sun-dried on the tree, and I may have them maybe a couple of times a year.
I just get them from local Greengrocer's stores.
I tend to classify Corn more as a seed, but some people class it as a fruit.
Thank you very much for the commment on my skin; I use Mineral Make-up from 'Beauty Spells' Australia, but rarely on my skin, mostly on my eyes.
Wishing you a Wonderful Day.
Love and Peaches,
from Anne XX.

I have emailed you before. I'm still on the path of being a fruitarian. I really don't like labeling myself because one day I may eat something that is not classified as a fruitarian. Although, there are many vergings of what a fruitarian is. I have been all raw since 1 Jan 2007 and a fruitarian for a few months with a couple three days of eating some greens. I also eat seaweed because of my thyroid condition. I noticed you had a birthday picture of your youngest son. Beautiful!!!!! I have to tell you that those olives looked so good. I want some olives!!! I want to know do you eat olives that were brined? If not, do you have a website where I can order olives that would be okay to eat that would be classified as a fruitarian diet. I know that seaweed is not, but I remember reading your book and you wrote that you should follow your instinct. There is more to the thyroid story. Also, is corn considered a fruit? Some conflicting stories. advance. I want to add, that your skin is very pretty. Do you use makeup? You don't have to answer that if you don't want to. I was just curious. Thank you in advance.

Tom

Warmest Regards,
Karen

I love what you said about eliminating the choice of what to eat. Also, the side effects of the orange juice diet sound great! Thank you!

My husband thinks that it is peculiar!! By the way, how can we chew enough to break greens right down for maximum benefit? VB tells us that greenery is vital for our well being and that we all need to be ingesting wheatgrass for max health. But according to her and others the only way to do this perfectly is to use a Vita Mix. Is this true?

Thank you so much for your book. After only having it for less than a day I am already over 3/4 of the way through it and cannot put it down (well maybe just for a minute to write this!)
My strict raw journey started almost 12 months ago, due to rhuematoid arthritis, but over the last few months have felt like I have needed something more. This has led me to unfortunately revert to a lot of avocado's, nuts and even cooked vegetables, which are not working.
Reading your book has made me realise in order to improve my health further, I must give this a try.
As I read your book, everything you say, seems to make complete sense and has now given me the strength to try the Fruitarian Way of Life.
You are a true inspiration and I thank you for your time, when we met today and can only hope that I can accomplish even half of what you have on this diet.
Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely
Julie

And then, that dousing their bodies with chemicals (sunscreens) only makes matters worse. The root problem as I see it - the cultural mind programming of our youth to consume animal products coupled with the ingestation of plant products grown unnaturally.

I just wanted to say that I think you are just great. Your website has really opened my eyes to the benefits of a fruitarian lifestyle(I was quite the skeptic). While I personally intend to stick to a raw paleolithic diet, I think I will ocasionally implement weekly juice fasts and mono-diets into my eating regime now! For the record, I think you are a lovely earth mother and your children are beautiful. Thanks for putting up your site, I will buy a copy of your book when I get the chance. Now I'm off to go scouting for chocolate sapotes; wish me luck!(By the way, I totally agree w/you about the benefits of sunshine when paired w/a good diet. I am a very pale person, yet thanks to my diet I can stay outside for hours w/out burning. Before I switched to a raw diet I turned into a lobster within 30 minutes of sunshine.)
All my warm thoughts,

So peaceful and informative at the same time. Where are you from? I am assuming Europe somewhere. I am trying to change everything about the way I live - I want to go back to a vegan diet as I was a few years ago when I was heavily into Pilates workouts and yoga. Then I weighed 140 and felt very good. I have 4 children and sitting home with them and not being too physically active has inhibited my well being as far as weight is concerned. I am hoping I can hear back from you soon and hear your thoughts on how long I should continue this fast - and any other advice and tips you may have. Thank you - you are a Godsend! :)

I intuitively share your opinion about fruit but I have several raw, vegetarian, or health conscious friends that constantly preach fruit should be eaten sparingly. Further exacerbated by a friend who is a longtime Guru in the raw movement. Yet, when I eat fruit I feel I have just ingested something vibrant and healing. I am newly inspired after hearing your interview and I am going to do what I know is best for me. When I eat fruit, it is the only time I do not crave sugary junk foods, or junk food of any kind. I cannot say that of greens. I look forward to receiving your book!

You are inspiring!
My husband and I emigrated here from England last year with our six children. (I know you understand that!)
I have been raw vegan (Inspired by Dr Doug Graham) for about 8 years and I'm 43 years old.
But I don't know ANYONE here who is raw let alone fruitarian.
I pretty much eat all fruit, and tomatoes, avocados, capsicums and lettuce.
I was having loads of raw apple cider vinegar but I've weaned myself off it!
I'd love to talk with you one day.
Would that be at all possible?
Like you I had raw connections and like minded friends in England but miss that here.
By the way do/did your children go to school here?
Ours are at the Rudolf Steiner school.
Warm wishes and thanks again for your reassuring words.

Since I was a little girl, I'm 62 now, I have always been drawn to fruit very strongly. If my mother would have let me, I would have eaten almost only fruit. But now I can, HURRAY!!!

The temptations here are devestating, people are snobby, the expense is mind-boggling, and everyone is about processed food. It's everywhere, and even in the 2-3 months of "summer" it stays gray until four in the afternoon, so Dr. Sun is rare! We look into Australia for when we are finally free (I'm a concrete finisher, but I want to work on a durian farm...I LOVE durian). My husband is a truck driver...fantasizes about off-road trucking in Australia!
You are SO blessed. I desire the life you live for my kids (teens), but they are so sucked in by ipods and malls and snobbery and mcdonalds that it sickens me. You know, when I can manage to get them to the country they blossom and become like little happy children again...when I can get them away from the influences of this cesspool of a city.
I love the perfect fact that eating mono is perfect for our bodies and am going to attempt it yet again. I swear I am not weak...you would not believe what we are up against here. People actually try to force you to fail. There is no encouragement, and if you attribute your strong, thin bod and good looks and fresh skin to raw/mono/fruit/durian/whatever they scoff and say "no, you are just naturally youthful." No one believes in the power of pure, raw food...only processed and cooked to death! What an insult to Jehovah, our God! So sad.

love your site. I thought i was alone out there.
I think the love of fruit does start from an early age. I used to spend my pocket money as a kid on fruit. I also knew every fruit tree & vine in the area and couldn't wait to do my night time foraging when they were in season.
Now fruit makes up about half my diet, about 6 - 10 peices a day. Not because i'm trying to lose weight or gain energy or anything but because the sweet tatse of a firm piece of fruit just does it for me. My body is used to it. Can you your body get addicted to fruit. I find if i go without for more than a day my body definately reacts.
I could eat only fruit for ever more but i feel i may eat too much. I find it doesn't fill you as much as veges or meat because they are mostly water.
Happy munching to all.

This website is really inspiring. I just had to tell you how alive your boys look in the photos. You can almost feel the life force flowing through them! Usually, when I've seen children look this alive, they were brought up as either atheists or fruitarians, or at least raw fooders. I'm not an atheist, but your site is really making me seriously consider the fruitarian path. For now, I'm thinking of fruit supplemented with E3live - AFA algae from Klamath Lake, Oregon, USA - Though I am intrigued by stories like the one about the lady who started out on the grape diet at the Hippocrates Institute and stayed on it for 13 years so far. She says she has this electrical energy flowing through her body and supposedly needs less than 2 hours of sleep a night. In the photos and YouTube clips, you also look like a person who has found an inner peace.
Blessings,
Jack

Maybe it could be over time, but a lot of people are very toxic and need years to mentally adjust to a new way of eating. The dogma of the medical establishment has really brainwashed the masses, and even if one could "go" fruitarian, he/she may not feel well due to psychological issues associated with going against what he/she has been taught. With that said, I think we all need to listen carefully to what our own bodies are telling us. Anne, please keep up the good work. You are definitely amazing and lend needed support to the raw vegan community.

How lame is that...cant bring durian on the bus, but you can bring a smelly bag of grilled dead cow burgers and potatoes fried in cancer oil....I crave a world where the bus driver says, "If you don't have a durian, then you cannot come onto my bus!"....loving the RAW life....come join anytime for the journey..currently in Malaysia..maybe India next.

I hope you will answer a question for me. I am considering attempting my first juice fast. After reading your OJ diaries, I was wondering one thing and I hope this isn't too direct. I read an article on fasting and it said you should take an enema every 1-3 days. Did you do this or do you feel it is necessary? That is the only thing stopping me from doing a juice fast.
Thanks,
Paula

Your website would have to be one of my all time favorites! Its a constant source of inspiration for me. I have been on orange juice for almost 2 weeks, with tiny amounts of mango in between. I have had 4 days straight now with purely orange juice. Now this is me coming from a diet of Meat, rice, social smoking etc... and junk food. I cant even imagine picking up a cigarette again! I have been exercising for 2 hours a day as well. This is the healthiest I have been for a long time. I know my body has a lot of house cleaning to do, so I will try and stay on the orange juice for as long as my body lets me!!
You are just simply a beautiful soul Anne! Thank you for your website. You are a great inspiration.
Warmly,
Jessie
